He is known as “The Godfather” of the Silicon Valley and he is the precursor of the “Lean Startup” term, Eric Ries’s book (his apprentice) became a guidebook for any entrepreneur. Blank became known for having taken part in 8 startups, having 4 IPOs done, losing the total amount of $35M from two investors but giving back $1B each, right after. Today, Blank is a professor at Stanford University and is part of the United States Department of Defense where he applies the very same concepts he teaches.

An American NASA Astronaut for 27 years. She was part of the 20th and 21st Expeditions to the International Space Station (ISS) and a two time veteran in space missions. Providing focused work at NASA at Kennedy Space Station, Florida, as an operational engineer attached to the Space Shuttle Orbiter Project. She studied aviation management at the University of Saint Petersburg, graduated at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and attained her Master’s Degree in Engineering Management at Florida University.
Curiosities: During the STS-128 Discovery mission, she took part in the live message exchange through Twitter from space, with members of NASA HQ in Houston, Texas.
Cofounder of Tesla, the most valued vehicle assembly in the world, the company’s autonomous electric vehicles drag attention not only by their technology, but also by their design. Their popularity skyrocketed, coming from an incredible branding work campaign. Part of this work started up with Marc in July 2003 with the company’s inception. The California based company was also born with digital DNA. As Elon Musk himself says, while other companies try to put a computer inside a car, they are putting wheels on a computer. Tarpenning is currently a Venture Partner at Spero Ventures, a Venture Capital fund in the Silicon Valley, focused in sustainability investments.

Duburgas dropped out of his graduation course at Stanford to start Brex. He didn’t even get to finish his first University year, following the same path as other entrepreneurs that made history in the technology world, such as: Bill Gates, from Microsoft and Mark Zuckerberg, from Facebook. To date, Brex attracted more than $500M in investments and their main investors are: DST Global, IVP, YCombinator and Greenoaks Capital. They gained momentum by supplying, bureaucracy free, a credit card for startups.
Curiosities: Henrique was the cofounder of Pagar.me in 2013, he was only 17. He sold the company in 2016 to Stone, when it had more than 100 employees and processed more than $1,5B in payments.
Ph.D. at Stanford University, Angelika obtained her Masters’ Degree at Berkeley and she is a mentor in the startup acceleration program of 500 Startups, one of the biggest and most acclaimed in the Silicon Valley and in the world. Other than this, Angelika is a professor at Stanford, Haas Business School and UCLA Anderson School of Management. Founded in 2015 by Fábio Teixeira, Hypercubes develop a technology that allows nano satellites to photograph Earth’s surface and analyze soil health. This means pulling data around which chemical element is either scarce or abundant in the soil, identify contamination, plagues and other information that will help to optimize production. Hypercubes surfs on a very timely technology wave where the same technology that makes smaller cell phones also deployed to satellites. To put into perspective, a mini satellite weighs from 100 and 500kg, while the nano satellites can weigh from 1 to 10kg. They measure basically the same as a shoe box and cost far less than a regular satellite, this is what makes the startup one of the most sustainable startups in the market in this segment.
Curiosities: Initially participating in a challenge provided by NASA, this entrepreneur perceived that the prize wouldn’t cover the research costs, then he redirected the idea for something sustainable and that would have the same impact. The idea was so successful that it dragged attention of some big players, such as the entrepreneur Beto Sicupira, considered the 4th richest in Brazil.
Co-founder and CEO of Hello, a new social network available in 12 countries, he is a social entrepreneur. After witnessing the evolution of social networks over the last 19 years, Orkut was inspired to unite people around their passions - inviting them to a new way of virtual socialization. Orkut is an 11-year Google veteran with both a master’s degree and a PhD on Computer Science from Stanford University, the place where he released the first of his three successful social networks, Club Nexus. Throughout his career, Orkut has accumulated a vast social media and mobile technology expertise for application on large scale.
Trivia: A self-proclaimed nerd and fan of several TV shows and comic books, Orkut lives in San Francisco, loves to explore the city and is known for promoting lively parties. In 2004, the entrepreneur has created and released orkut.com, a social network that brought together more than 300 million users around the world and, at its peak, accounted for more than 50% of Google page views. Back at the time it was the most popular website in India and Brazil.
She has worked for 4 years as LinkedIn’s Chief Learning Officer. Currently she works at Degreed on the same position and with the company she has the mission of transforming the way the world learns, develops skills and prepares to the future. Kelly is the co-author of the book Expertise Economy, released in 2019 and praised as one of the best business books of that year. The book explains the challenges and opportunities for the future of work, and also describes workforce trends, the new scenario of talents and why skills became the currency of business.
Trivia: At LinkedIn, Kelly has created a strategic vision and assembled one of the most innovative learning teams of the industry. During the time she worked there, the number of employees went from 2,000 to more than 11,000 and the employee engagement score kept constantly on 90%.
Seibel holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Yale and works as a partner and CEO at Y Combinator - one of the largest startup accelerators on Silicon Valley, which has accelerated companies such as Airbnb, Dropbox, Rappi and Brex. Michael Seibel is also the co-founder of the startups Justin.tv/Twitch and Socialcam, besides advising hundreds of startups around the world.
Trivia: before working in the tech industry, he spent a year as the financial director of a campaign for the U.S Senate. On June 10th, 2020, it was announced that Seibel would be named as a member of the Reddit’s board of directors. He was the first black person in the history of the company to hold this position.
